Look into the sheriffs dept. they are always looking and particularly for female cadets. The pay is good right from the start and most make over $100,000 after just a couple of years.

Things to do near Riverside, CA, this month?
My family is coming to visit us in Riverside, CA. We are just traveling here ourselves, so I don't know the area. Where can we take them? We are not into night clubs, but enjoy the beach, horseback riding, casinos, eating out, museums, sightseeing, whale watching, zoos, etc. Nothing too expensive, but I would like a list of about 25 things to choose from. Can you help?

Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors can’t be wrong. (Sometimes it seems all at once) Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. Check out eBay. You can find some discounted tickets there. And Universal City Walk is a fun place to hang out in the evening after your day inside the park. Hollywood: Hollywood Boulevard is ready for its close-up, thanks to years of urban renewal and renovation. Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Mann's Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. I have also added the Hollywood & Highland complex to my top ten list… it has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater (home of the Academy Awards). I like the El Capitan theater, because it has been restored to its former glory, unlike the Chinese, which was essentially gutted and turned into a multiplex. Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something. Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you'll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste. And it's a short bike ride from: Santa Monica Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. (The Sting and "Three's Company" come immediately to mind). After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach. Santa Monica Third Street Promenade - Downtown Santa Monica's shopping promenade is often the scene of movie star-sightings. Just a short walk from the Santa Monica Pier. Sunset Boulevard: Perhaps one of the world's most famous streets, it began as a route between the stars' posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the "Sunset Strip" on its way. It makes for a fun drive. Along the way, you see a lot of different neighborhoods. Hollywood, West Hollywood, Bel Air, and Pacific Palisades. When you get to the ocean, stop at Gladstone's for Fish. Queen Mary: Once the largest ship afloat, she's been docked in Long Beach for longer than she sailed, and her elegance never fails to impress. Free to visit. You can actually stay on board, for a price. Farmers Market and The Grove - A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, The Grove and Farmers Market coexist. Enjoy a movie or shopping, then take the trolley to the Farmers Market for lunch or dinner. Farmer's Market is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping "The Price is Right". You might even get in. Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage. Getty Museum - The Getty's architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art or architecture better (or maybe you'll just enjoy the view), the Getty is sure to please. Free. Attend a TV taping - You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It's very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the tonight show. Check the NBC web site for all the details there. Places to eat: In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone. Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. Might see a celebrity. Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. Original location at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown. Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, might spot a celebrity. Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station, Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, it’s hot. Places to Stay: In Hollywood, I recommend the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel and the Farmer's Daughter Hotel. In Anaheim, I recommend the HoJo Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. If you want to splurge and make this a most memorable trip, stay at Disney’s Grand Californian. You get the full Disney experience. If you don't need to stay by the park, then stay at the Doubletree on Harbor, or even the one in Orange on Chapman. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. Places to Shop: South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa Fashion Island, Newport Beach Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica Citadel Outlets, Commerce Beverly Center, Los Angeles The Block at Orange, Orange Ontario Mills, Ontario

About Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, or Caribbean Beach at Walt Disney World
Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, or Caribbean Beach at Walt Disney World?
I am trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, or Caribbean Beach at Walt Disney World. I am definitely staying onsite at one of these three. Has anyone stayed and can give me comparisons? I know that they are all moderate hotels. I just want to hear from people who have actually stayed at these hotels. I am traveling with a 3 and 5 year old. I think I am going to bring a double stroller so will have to be lugging that around too. Which ones have the least travel time involved going to the parks? Any other hints you can give me for my vacation? I am staying at the All Star Resort also....but our stay at these hotels will be part of our cruise package. Also has anyone heard of the mansions there? Can you tell me about them, please.

Well, Im sorry to respond without the answer you are looking for, but you are wasting money on a room that you will spend very little time at. Me, wife, and my 8 and 5 year old boys, stay at the "DISNEY AllStar Resorts" . Our fav is the "All Star Movies" in the Toy Story wing of the hotel. Look on the web to see the huge "monuments" of Buzz lightyear, Woody, and the rest of he gang from Toy Story. I mean, come on! What kid doesn't like Toy Story? Besides that, you will spend little time in your hotel. They all have buses to take you to all the parks and they all have pools ect. ect. So if you arent on your 2nd Honeymoon, dont go upscale with a 3 and 5 year old! Its a waste. The kids want WOODY AND BUZZ MOM! LOL I hope you have a blast! We are ready for our next trip already. PS DO THE DISNEY MEAL PLAN...ITS SO GREAT! BUT MAKE RESERVATOINS TO CHARACTER DINNERS WELL IN ADVANCE!

My family went last year and we stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. We loved it. There are 5 of us , 16 yr old twins and 7 year old, me and my husband. It worked out great. We were right in front one of the pools and around the corner from the shuttle. Very beautiful grounds. We walked to the Port Orlean French Quarter and we liked the looks of Riverside better. Looked Cleaner. I would recommend buying the dining plan. It saved us so much! Our first meal was over $256 and we didn't have to pay a thing. Tip is included in the dining plan. If you book through Disney the dining plan is sometimes Free. Depends on when you are going. You get 2 snacks a day, 1 Counter Service Meal and 1 Sit Down Meal. Plenty to eat, the last day we had to buy up all of our snacks because we hadn't used them all. Well worth the money. Your children are younger so it shouldn't cost as much. I believe is is $39 per adult per day and $11 per child. I am not sure if you will have to pay for the 3 year old. But you really can't eat in the parks for that per day. I hope this helped! Have a great time!

Who said All Stars (Furthest away from resorts; can be noisy, Crowded)? LOL thats the worst; Most of the time they book groups there and overcrowd the place. For Children I would Recommend the Caribbean Beach; Port Orleans Riverside?French Quarter Share Bus so that could be a problem but its very Nice. Im a travel agent and I can get you a great deal on Disney; I would suggest the Dining Plan Its free right now if you travel between late august into september must be booked soon its ending soon. For a value resort; If you want that way go with Pop Century; You can get lucky with All Stars but most of the time its crap.

I've stayed at all 3 of these hotels. My personal favorite is Port Orleans Riverside. I like the atmosphere and its such a beautiful hotel. I think its one of the more quiet resorts which is comforting after a day at the parks. I also feel that the food court there is one of the best ones at all the resorts. I like the French Quarter also but I dont find it to be as nice as the Riverside. And Carribean beach is ok but I felt it was kinda outdated. There will always been some travel time to the parks. And depending on which resort you stay, it might take longer to get to a park farther away. I know the All star Resorts are the farthest from the Magic Kingdom. Good luck on your trip. Have fun.
6 :
I have not personally stayed at any of these (I usually rent a house off-property). But here is an excellent site with reviews that I would use to decide: http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.htm Have a blast!

Caribbean Beach is awesome! We stayed there a couple years back with our little ones. It does have a nice family atmosphere. But then again so do most of the Disney hotels. We lugged a double stroller around as well - maybe look into the rentals they have at the parks. It will save you the backache an having to worry about carrying it around park to park.
8 :
I've stayed at port orleans and riverside...they were basically the same...boated by carribean beach, it looked nice too...6 of one half a dozen of the other.
9 :
The atmosphere of the Port Orleans resorts is one of the reasons they are such popular choices. As for distance to the parks, however, Caribbean Beach is virtually right next door to Disney-MGM Studios and is also a short distance away from Epcot. The Port Orleans resorts are just a short distance away from Epcot. I would suggest bringing along the double stroller; it will save you about $18 a day to bring your own instead of buying a rental. Here is a map for the locations of your select resorts in relation to the parks. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d119/rwingflyr/wdwmap.jpg

I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside years ago. I loved it so much I choose it again this November. The grounds are truely beautiful. It has a very calming and peaceful atmosphere where you can relax, yet centrally located to everything. Good luck and have fun!

Stayed at Port Orleans Riverside a few years ago with a 14-8-and 3 yr old. We loved it. Stayed in the Alligator Bayou section. They have a trundle bed in the room as an extra bed. The 3 yr loved having his own bed. :) POR is a big property but it's very serene. Plenty of pools -quiet pools and the main themed pool. We never had problems with the bus transportation. We were at the 2nd bus stop on the properties route. Never waited any more than 10 mins max for bus and i think that was only because we were going to Typhoon Lagoon that day. This was not my first choice of disney resorts - only ended up staying there because of the trundle bed. But i was really pleased and would stay at that location again. The longest ride was out to Animal Kingdom but every other park was pretty fast after we got through the stops. Same with coming back to the hotel. Plus i like the "river" that runs through the resort. You can take the boat straight to downtown disney! It's about a 10-15 min ride but it's so nice and relaxing. The Mansions that you are referring to is the Mansion side of POR. The river splits up the sides. Alligator Bayou is obviously the swamp themed area and the mansions are the more of the gone with the wind themed buildings. You wouldn't go wrong with staying at POR it's a great location.
12 :
Big big thumbs up for Port Orleans French Quarter, by far the best of the three you mentioned. I would say the best of all the choices in its class.
13 :
We stayed at Caribbean Beach last summer with our 5 year old. He LOVED it! There are lots of pools (we opted for a smaller, less crowded one instead of the main one). The place to eat is great. You can get a quick breakfast there before grabbing a bus to your day's destination. It's close to drive to other places for dinner. We'd had enough of the parks by dinner and went elsewhere. The rooms are great! Enjoy!
14 :
We just stayed at Port Orleans Riverside a couple of weeks ago. My daughter and I took a Sea Raycer boat over past the French Quarter and it looked nice, but we didn't get to go inside. I have not been to Caribbean Beach, but we considered it and have read some mixed reviews. As far as Riverside goes, it was nice and the food court is very good with lots of selections. There are plenty of pools and the atmosphere is very relaxed. My only complaint was being too far away from the bus stop. Try to make sure that you are close to the Main Building/Food Court or one of the other bus routes, especially with a double stroller. The grounds are huge with a lot of winding paths that are sometimes confusing to navigate. Many times we just drove up to the bus stop rather than have to walk. It also made getting back to the room a lot easier too when we were all tired. If you can swing it, I would definitely suggest one of the deluxe resorts on the monorail route. We stayed at the Polynesian back in 2000 and needed a double stroller back then too. It was so much more convenient just rolling it onto the monorail than folding it up to get on the buses, especially if the kids are sleeping. You will probably be spending most of your time at MK anyway, so slipping back to the hotel for a rest and a swim is much quicker at the deluxes. What ever you choose I hope you have a wonderful time!

You can get buses to the border but I am pretty sure that you are going to have to change busses at the border. Check with Greyhound. They will have a good answer for you.
2 :
Greyhound stops at the border. You need to get off and walk across Customs & Immigration and walk or take a cab to the Bus Depot where you can catch a first class bus to points South in Mexico. You are likely going thoriugh Nogales.

About How can I get from Riverside to San Deigo using public transportation
| How can I get from Riverside to San Deigo using public transportation? I'm traveling to Comic Con on Thursday, and I need to be in San Diego by 8:30 AM. I'm from New York so I'm not familiar with any of the public transportation lines. San Diego - 3 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : You can take the Metrolink train from Riverside to Union Station (L.A.) and then take Amtrack from Union Station to San Diego. Buses would require a lot of planning. Look up OCTD.com which is Orange County bus company (also metrolink site is metrolinktrains.com (if I remember correctly). They can help you try to get from bus-bus-bus-bus-bus until you make it there. The hardest part is making it through Pendleton as I cant remember seeing any buses pass on the freeway through there (city buses that is). I'd do the train route, will save you hours as well. 2 : If you need to be in San Diego 8:30AM then the only way to do it is to drive to San Diego or go the night before. From Riverside, take the MetroLink train to Oceanside. http://www.socalthemeparks.com/la-county-area-transit.html Change trains in Oceanside to the Coaster Train. Take will take you to downtown San Diego. http://www.socalthemeparks.com/san-diego-area-transit.html 3 : Coach is wrong y would you go to la from riverside just to go to san diego.. crazy man,, but oj is right jump on the amtrac/metrolink. go toward O.C. and transfer to go to sandiego the metrolink/ amtrac becomes the coaster in oceanside and you take the coaster to downtown.. But you should have left yesterday to be there today this morning each tain is about an hour |
